Our philosophy
Breathing is
a way to explore, touch and move the space inside the body.
In the main, our prenatal and postnatal yoga instruction follows methods developed by Vanda Scaravelli, an Italian teacher - slow, meditative rhythms, tiny movements and breathing with your whole body.
This type of yoga is suitable for pregnant women and new mothers. Exploring yourself with help from yoga requires nothing but curiosity. Each movement and every breath offers an opportunity to pause and become aware of your body and its vitality. Every breath also provides space to become aware of a unique moment.
Pregnancy is a unique opportunity to explore the inner body and focus on the big changes. Yoga practice also prepares for labour and birth. You will learn to know the strength of your body, the capacity of creating and giving birth to new life.
We are inspired by many wise teachers. We started prenatal yoga about 30 years ago, inspired by Janet Balaskas, the pioneer of Active Birth movement. We have been inspired also by Feldenkreis-method, Cantienica-pelvic floor programme. However our greatest source of inspiration at the moment is Nuria Vives Pares and her approach Parto y Movimiento (Birth and Movement).
We continue our exploration and learn every day from our students.
“Watch a hundred-year-old tree breathe. Thank the tree in your mind for showing us how to grow and stay.”
